“Lichtenberg figures: A.R. von Hippel,”

Art Meets Technology: Core Samples from Nine Archives is now on view in the Peterson Gallery, Green Library Bing Wing, through January 15.

With so much going on it can be challenging to find time to see exhibits, especially if you work across campus or in Redwood City. If you’ve been meaning to get around to it but haven’t yet, consider joining the curatorial group for a November 6 reception and symposium co-sponsored by the Stanford Arts Institute.

5:00–6:15 pm Reception, Green Library Rotunda
6:30–8:30 pm Symposium, Bender Room

The symposium will engage the humanities, science, and engineering communities in a discussion of innovation and interdisciplinary research, with a focus on the arts and technology.

Fred Turner (Dept. of Communication; Program in Science, Technology, and Society) and Cathy Marshall (Microsoft Research) will speak, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Art Librarian Peter Blank. Respondents include Professor Emeritus John Chowning (Music, CCRMA), Helen and Newton Harrison (eco-artists, UC-Santa Cruz), Lynn Hershman Leeson (media artist, New School), Professor Emeritus Donald Knuth (Computer Science), and PhD candidate Laura Cassidy Rogers.
