A new cloud printing system has been implemented in the Stanford Libraries. The Stanford Print Service, managed by Vice Provost of Teaching & Learning (VPTL), is the result of an initiative to replace the old and outdated printing system that lacked features resident in more up-to-date printing systems. Printing and copying are essential services offered to library patrons and this new system greatly enhances these services.
The new print service is now available in Green Library and the branch libraries, as well as in the dorms, graduate residences, Lathrop library, and other public computing spaces managed by VPTL.
How to pay?
Students are being encouraged to sign up for the StanfordCardPlan to use these funds to pay for printing. Faculty, staff, students, and anyone with a valid Stanford ID can add funds to their Stanford ID account via the new web portal. Visiting scholars, visitors, and anyone else who does not posses a University ID card must obtain a Stanford Printing Card from the Circulation/Loan desk at any of the Stanford Libraries and add funds to it via the web portal. There is a $5.00 fee for these Stanford Printing Cards.
How much does it cost?
The cost to print is $0.10 per side and $0.13 per copy. There is no charge for scanning. Cash is no longer accepted to pay for printing or copying.
Patrons must use a card to "badge-in" to any of the multi-functional devices. Currently, only Stanford ID and Stanford Printing Cards are accepted by the system. There is additional documentation located in the libraries at each printer/copier/scanner machine that will give further instructions on how to use the new system.
