The Arts Guide
If you’re involved in the arts at Stanford, you might explore the Arts Guide, a multimedia guide to all campus arts departments, organizations and student groups. Videos, slideshows and text information is presented for each group and provides a great sense of the diversity, culture and opportunities the campus offers.
Arts Majors, Minors, Honors, Coterm and Classes
Stanford offers many opportunities for arts studies through a number of departments and programs.
Arts Intensive
The Arts Intensive (AI) Program offers students the opportunity to study intensively with Stanford arts faculty and small groups of other Stanford students passionate about art. The AI program takes place over three weeks in September before the start of Fall Quarter, one of three programs within September Studies at Stanford.

Arts Organizations
Roughly one in four undergraduate students is involved in an arts group at Stanford. Almost everyone goes to see their friends perform at various events and venues during the academic year.
The more than 90 arts-related student organizations on campus create a dynamic and exciting environment in which to participate and appreciate the arts. The Student Organizing Committee for the Arts (SOCA) is one of several umbrella organizations responsible for bringing together the arts community through inclusive events and opportunities. Arts Programming and Events
Stanford Live
Stanford Live is a performing arts series that brings an incredible lineup of world-famous artists to campus throughout the year. A generous student discount is applied to ticket prices, and there are a wide variety of special offers to students.
The Cantor Arts Center
Stanford boasts its own art museum on campus. The Cantor Arts Center has diverse collections that span continents, cultures and 4,000 years of art history. It includes the largest gathering of Rodin bronzes outside Paris. See a wide range of permanent and changing exhibitions and take advantage of docent tours, lectures, gallery talks, symposia, classes and special events — all for free. The Center also hosts regular student parties, known as First Thursdays. The First Thursday kickoff event, Party on the Edge, occurs the first Thursday of Fall quarter and is not to be missed.
Stanford Arts Institute
The Stanford Arts Institute is the hub of the Arts Initiative at Stanford, a key priority in The Stanford Challenge. In addition to strengthening core arts departments and further integrating the arts in undergraduate life, the initiative expands arts activity within and beyond Stanford.It brings together faculty and students from departments all across campus to collaborate on innovative performances and exhibitions. The initiative will improve and expand Stanford arts facilities while forging ongoing partnerships with theaters, museums and other prominent arts organizations.
