What is the best use of virtual reality? Professor Jeremy Bailenson explains how virtual reality can be used to affect positive change, most notably for the environment.

Jeremy Bailenson is the founding director of the Virtual Human Interaction Lab, a professor of communication and a senior fellow at the Woods Institute for the Environment. Professor Bailenson explores the manner in which people are able to represent themselves in virtual spaces. He also designs and studies virtual reality systems that allow physically remote individuals to meet in virtual space, and explores the manner in which these systems change the nature of verbal and nonverbal interaction. His findings have been published in more than 100 academic papers in the fields of communication, computer science, education, law, political science and psychology.

This Stanford+Connects micro lecture was filmed on location at Stanford University. Stanford+Connects is a program of the Stanford Alumni Association.
