Access and privileges

Access policies described here apply to the Stanford University Libraries. Coordinate libraries (e.g., Business, Law, Hoover, Medical) and department libraries (Classics, Philosophy) may have separate access requirements and borrowing policies; consult them directly for information about using their facilities and resources.

Campus ID Card holders

All members of the Stanford community are eligible for access to the Stanford University Libraries. See the table below for a quick view of privileges. With proper documentation, Continuing Studies participants, spouses and domestic partners of Stanford affiliates, Stanford Hospital and LCPH staff, and summer conference participants (on a restricted basis) may be eligible for borrowing privileges. Contact Privileges for more information.

ID Cards

Use your Stanford ID Card, issued by the Campus ID Card Office, to enter the library and borrow materials.  If you received your card today and want to start borrowing right away, stop by Circulation & Privileges at Green Library to activate your card; otherwise, it will be activated overnight.

View your library account

Use My Account to manage your library account online. View items you have checked out, fines or fees accrued, and the status of items placed on hold, recalled, or paged for delivery.
