COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Stanford synchronized swimming team placed third at the 2015 U.S. Collegiate Championships over the weekend, earning 79.5 points at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on the campus of The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
On the strength of season-best performances across the board, Ohio State able to top defending champion Lindenwood 93.0 to 89.0, to win its 29th title.
Stanford came in second in the team swim (86.8667) behind OSU (87.7667). Swimming for the Cardinal was Katie Gu, Clare McGovern, Sandra Ortellado, Erica Slavin, Rina Horii, Isabella Park, Marisa Tashima and Evelyna Wang.
Stanford placed third and fourth in the duet. McGovern and Ortellado scored an 85.5000, while Gu and Slavin totaled an 83.5000. Lindenwood’s Mary Killman and Vasilisa Mironova won the title with an 88.4000.
In the trio, McGovern, Ortellado and Slavin came in fourth with an 84.7000, while Gu, Park and Tashima were fifth with an 84.4000. Lindenwood’s Irene Beaus, Mary Killman and Dennise Ramirez captured first with an 87.1333.
Lindenwood’s Mary Killman won the High Point award with 70 points. Earning All-America honors for Stanford were Ortellado, Gu, Tashima and Park. It’s the second All-America nod for bothTashima and Park and the first for Ortellado and Gu.
