Questions about District Services
How can I identify your vector control technicians?
Our vector control technicians wear a uniform with the District name clearly visible on the shoulder patches, and upon request can show their District badge and ID. Laboratory staff may work out of uniform when conducting disease surveillance activities, but will have a District badge and ID.
To get to know the technician(s) and other staff who work in your area, visit our staff profile pages.
If you have any doubt that a particular individual is a District employee, please call our office at (650) 344-8592 or contact local law enforcement.
Do I have to pay for your services?
No. Our services to county residents are paid for by tax revenues; there is no charge to individual residents.
How can I request a service?
You can request services by visiting the online service request form, or by calling the District office at (650) 344-8592.
Do I need to be home when your technician comes to provide service?
No, you do not need to be home in order for our technicians to provide service on your property. However, please provide instructions for accessing your property (locked gates, dogs, etc.) and a detailed description of the location of the problem.
Can the District provide services for someone who lives outside San Mateo County?
No. Our services are provided for residents of San Mateo County. The only exception is mosquito fish pick-up; if you live outside the county and would like to pick up mosquito fish, please contact the District office at (650) 344-8592.
How long does it take to get service once I make a request?
In most cases, you will hear from a technician within 1-2 business days.
