BRIEF: Stanford lands four-star football prospect

Aziz Shittu, a defensive tackle prospect from Atwater, Calif., committed to Stanford yesterday. Shittu is listed by Scout.com as the No. 7 defensive tackle prospect in the Class of 2012, while ESPN lists him in the top 150 prospects overall. ESPN, Scout and Rivals all list Shittu as a four-star prospect, and he is top prospect secured by Stanford head coach David Shaw.

Listed at 6-foot-3, 275 pounds, Shittu has dominated at Buchach Colony High School. He tallied 75 tackles, 6.5 sacks and three forced fumbles in his junior year. Shittu’s GPA is listed at 3.8.

Shittu was heavily recruited, particularly from West Coast schools. Every Pac-12 school but Oregon made him an offer, as well as nationwide powers Florida, Boise State, Tennessee and Michigan.

Although Shittu planned to narrow his list of potential schools to eight this summer, he settled on Stanford after talking to Shaw.
