COP 20
The U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will hold its 20th annual Conference of the Parties (COP 20) from December 1-12, 2014 in Lima, Peru. This summit is a critical opportunity for countries to make progress on establishing an international climate agreement at COP21 in 2015 in Paris, France.
As the risks posed by climate change become increasingly pronounced, threatening homes, habitats, and livelihoods, the need for every nation to work towards an ambitious and fair climate agreement has never been greater. At the same time, it’s increasingly clear that reducing greenhouse gas emissions can generate economic benefits and opportunities.
Many of WRI’s experts on climate change, finance, forests, cities, transport, and more will be in Lima for all of the discussions. We’ll provide research, analysis, and commentary before, during, and after the conference. We aim to help decision makers move forward on a range of issues critical to creating an effective international climate action agreement, including mitigation, adaptation, finance, transparency, equity, and more.
