As we get ready to celebrate #VeteransDay, we remember Edward F. O’Connor who worked for the Immigration and Naturalization Service for over 20 years and held leadership positions. O’Connor served in the Marines in WWII & the Korean War. We thank all veterans for their service!

Therefore, you will receive notice about your I-131 some time after notification on your I-765. There is no need to inquire about the I-131 unless it is outside of normal processing times. Adjudicating these applications separately reduces I-765 processing times.

When I-485 applicants file Forms I-765 and I-131 at the same time, we often adjudicate the I-765 first. If approved, we issue an Employment Authorization Document without any notation about the advanced parole application. We will then adjudicate the Form I-131 separately.

As we close out #FilipinoAmericanHistoryMonth, here’s a look back at a 1993 naturalization ceremony. 209 Filipino veterans who fought alongside American forces in WWII took the oath to become #NewUSCitizens. This was the first ceremony held in the Philippines since the 1940s.
