KKU - Fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics : Introduction to Fluid Mechanics
by KKUChannel KhonKaen 2,658 views
Chapter 1 :: Introduction (Self study topic)
Fluid mechanics is that discipline within the broad field of applied mechanics concerned with the behavior of liquids and gases at rest or in motion. The field of mechanics obviously encompasses a vast array of problems that may vary from the study of blood flow in capillaries to the flow of natural gas from Malaysia to Thailand....
This chapter illustrates some characteristics of fluids, dimensions and units...
Topic objectives - Understanding the definition of basic fluid properties - Able to write the dimension of various parameters in fluid mechanics - Understanding the system of unit and unit conversion -

Chapter 2 :: Fluid Statics
In this chapter we will consider an important class of problems in which the fluid is either at rest or moving in such a manner that there is no relative motion between adjacent particles. In both instances there will be no shearing stresses in the fluid, and the only forces that develop on the surfaces of the particles will be due to the pressure. Thus, our principal concern is to investigate pressure and its variation throughout a fluid and the effect of pressure on submerged surfaces. The absense of shearing stresses greatly simplifies the analysis and, as we will see, allows us to obtain relatively simple solutions to many important practical problems...

Chapter 4 :: Fluid Kinematics
In this chapter various aspects of fluid motion without being concern with the actual forces necessary to produce the motion will be dicussed. That is the kinematics of the motion will be considered.

KKU - 185233 Fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics :: Similitude, Dimensional Analysis, and Modelling
by KKUChannel KhonKaen 994 views
Although many practical engineering problems involvein fluid mechanics can be solved by using the equations and analytical prcedures, there remain a large number of problems that rely on experimentally obtained data for their solution. In fect, it is probably fair to say that very few problems involving real fluids can be solved by analysis alone. An obvious goal of many experiment is to make the results as widely applicable as possible. To achieve this end, the concept of similitude is often used so that measurements made on one system can be used to describe the behaviour of other similar system.

KKU - 185233 Fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics :: Viscous Flow in Pipes (1/2)
by KKUChannel KhonKaen 763 views
The transport of a fluid in a closed conduit is extremely important in our daily operations. Therefore the purpose of this chapter is to understand the basic processes involved in such flows. The piping systems can be analysed using the analysis of the simplest pipe flow topics and dimensional analysis considerations combined with experimental results for the other pipe flow topics.
