A native of northern California, Mike attended San Mateo high-school before studying Bioengineering at UC Berkeley. He then joined the joint Harvard-MIT Health-Sciences and Technology program and received a Master's of Science from MIT and his medical degree from Harvard. His research experience includes finite element modeling, orthopaedic biomechanics, device design and failure analysis. During his master's research he collaborated with DuPont to help design embolics for treatment of hemorrhage and tumor therapy. He recently completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at UCSF and will specialize in total joint arthroplasty. When not in the hospital or the lab, Mike enjoys skiing and has worked in the past as a ski patrol.
