Active members automatically become alumnae members of Cap and Gown upon graduation. Cap and Gown currently has more than 2000 alumnae members worldwide. Each year through Cap and Gown, alumnae members volunteer their valuable time to enhance opportunities for Cap and Gown actives and Stanford women. Alumnae Members also pay dues to support our actives and the other costs of Cap and Gown activities. Cap and Gown alumnae and friends additionally fund six different scholarships at Stanford.
Cap and Gown alumnae are also wonderful volunteer leaders throughout Stanford. The STARS Assembly (Saluting Top Alumni Representatives at Stanford) is a biennial event to honor alumni who have made notable contributions as volunteers to the University. Not only is Cap and Gown invited to nominate participants, but at the last STARS conference, Cap and Gowners represented 11% of the total STARS participants!
Cap and Gown alumnae members are governed by an Alumnae Board that coordinates various events, programs, dues, and scholarships, and communicates with our membership via our annual newsletter, website, and email. We always welcome your suggestions and participation!
