Helen Stacy

Helen Stacy is a senior fellow at Stanford University’s Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies where she directs the Program on Human Rights in the Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law; and is affiliated faculty at Stanford Law School. As a scholar of international and comparative law, human rights, and legal philosophy, Stacy has produced works analyzing the efficacy of regional courts in promoting human rights, differences in the legal systems of neighboring countries, and the impact of political and social values on legal thinking. Stacy is currently researching human trafficking, with a focus on trafficking in southern, eastern and western Africa, and cross-border trafficking between Burma, China and Thailand. Before joining Stanford, Stacy was a senior lecturer at Queensland University of Technology School of Law, a senior prosecutor for the director of public prosecutions in London, and an in-house lawyer for Shell Oil in Australia.
