International School for Materials for Energy and Sustainability IV (ISMES IV)

July 13-20, 2015

Renewable Energy

Event Description

The aim of the School is to present the state-of-the-art and the future perspectives for materials as they can be applied to energy generation and storage for sustainable energy technologies. The School has two components:

  • Lectures by some of the most recognized academic and industrial experts, merging physics, chemistry and engineering knowledge in several fields
  • Active participation of the School's students in both individual and team exercises to explore energy and sustainability

A general overview of the global energy landscape will be presented by discussing conventional and emerging energy sources and uses. Topics of the school are: the climate change, materials availability, conventional and sustainable technologies, solar energy conversion (PV and thermal), thermoelectric energy conversion, solar fuels, wind energy conversion, fuel cells, water, energy storage, sustainable vehicles and next generation manufacturing. The School will be a great opportunity for students and postdoctoral fellows from around the world to meet with and learn from their peers, and established experts in a friendly atmosphere, reaping benefit in terms of enthusiasm, knowledge and new ideas and benefitting the future of mankind.
