Personal bio
Rob Dunbar grew up in New England and Puget Sound where he developed a love for the ocean and being outdoors. He undergraduate degree in Geology is from the University of Texas at Austin. He received a Ph.D. in Oceanography from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UCSD. Rob was a professor in Geology at Rice University from 1981-1997. He joined Stanford's faculty in 1997 and now directs the Earth Systems Program. He teaches classes in the areas of ocean science, climate change, and biogeochemistry. Many of these classes include field components. Currently teaching
