Personal bio
Walter (Wally) Falcon is deputy director of the Center on Food Security and the Environment, former director of the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies, and Farnsworth professor of International Agricultural Policy at Stanford University (Emeritus). He received his PhD in Economics from Harvard University in 1962, and joined the Stanford faculty in 1972 as Professor of Economics and of Food Research. Falcon specializes on food systems in developing countries, with longstanding expertise on Indonesia, Pakistan, and Mexico. His recent research focuses on global hunger, food price volatility, agricultural technology, and biofuels. Over the years, he has co-taught a course on the World Food Economy to thousands of Stanford students. Currently teaching
