The Stanford Geospatial Center's mission is to support any and all GIS use across the entire Stanford community.

Workshops

We provide scheduled and on-demand instruction in the fundamentals of GIS, data management, data visualization tools, and spatial analysis. We can also provide customized training for specific disciplines or departments and access to advanced training online.

Services

​We provide one-on-one consultations for GIS related projects, as well as support for faculty and departments who want to bring GIS instruction to their classes. You can set up an appointment by emailing David Medeiros or Stace Maples.

Note - previous experience with ArcGIS or completion of our Introduction to ArcGIS workshop are required to make a reference appointment.

GIS data resources

The SGC has an extensive collection of basic and thematic geospatial data in digital format and Branner Library is home to a large collection of paper maps. In addition to the digital resources we have on hand GIS users can look for data online at the Earth Works geospatial data search engine.
