    Spring 2015 Highlights in Giving


    EXPLORING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: Nick Yang, '99, MS '99 (seated at center), has made a $4 million gift to help further the study of computer science and artificial intelligence at Stanford. A digital media entrepreneur based in Beijing, Yang has created a professorship at the School of Engineering with a $3 million endowment. The remaining portion of his gift will establish a fund to support the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, a center for research, teaching, theory, and practice around machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, robotics, and other areas.     Spring 2015 Highlights in Giving


    A BOOST FOR ALLERGY RESEARCH: Ray Chambers (left) and The MCJ Amelior Foundation gave $1 million to support the Sean N. Parker Center for Allergy Research at Stanford University. An estimated 30 to 40 percent of the global population suffers from allergies to food, drugs, the environment, and other triggers. The center aims to discover the underlying immune mechanisms and develop a lasting cure. It is led by Kari Nadeau (right), associate professor of pediatrics and a renowned immunology and allergy researcher at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital and the School of Medicine.

    Spring 2015 Highlights in Giving


    SCHOOL DISTRICT INNOVATION: With key support from several donors, the Graduate School of Education and the Graduate School of Business are set to launch a new program for school district superintendents and other central office administrators to help build entrepreneurial, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. The Executive Program for Education Leaders will begin this summer with generous gifts from Phil, '85, and Maurine Halperin, '84, MS '85; John, '65, and Louise Bryson, '69, MBA '79; and Chien Lee, '75, MS '75, MBA '79.
