Clinton Hayes, interim head coach of Rhode Island's 2011 women's national championship squad, was named Stanford sailing assistant coach in August of 2011. The 2014-15 season marks his fourth on The Farm.

Stanford swept conference titles during the fall and spring seasons during the 2013-14 season and finished the year with program-best finishes at nationals in coed racing (fourth) and team race (third). The Cardinal swept the PCCSC team, coed and women's championship for the fifth consecutive year.

The Cardinal garnered the most All-America honors in program history with six earning awards. Kieran Chung was named a coed All-American and was joined by Kevin Laube who received honorable mention honors. Yuri Namikawa and Carolyn Ortel earned crew All-American awards, while Sarah Mace and Molly McKinney notched women's accolades.

Stanford's coed squad achieved the first No. 1 ranking in program history for the Cardinal in 2013 after taking home its first-ever win at ICSA National Championship semifinals. The team went on to finish sixth at the ICSA National Championship.

Stanford competed at all three spring national championships, finishing fifth in women's racing and sixth in team racing.

Even more, three Stanford sailors claimed ICSA All-America honors. Oliver Toole was named an All-American skipper for the Cardinal, and Kelly Ortel and Haley Kirk were named All-American crew. The trio helped Stanford earn each of the three PCCSC spring titles for a second straight season.

Stanford wrapped up the fall season by winning the PCCSC singlehanded, dinghy and coed crowns. The program boasted a pair of top-six finishers on the men's side of the ICSA Singlehanded Championship for its best finish at the event since 2006.

In his first season at Stanford, the Cardinal produced a league first, winning all six fall and spring Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference championships. The Cardinal went on to finish eighth at the team and coed nationals and was 13th in the women's race.

Hayes was the interim head coach at Rhode Island in 2011, leading the Rams to the women's national title. It was the Rams' first title since 1976.

Hayes previously served as an assistant at Vermont, where he starred as a sailor for the Catamounts.

Hayes led the Catamounts to their first ever spring final after a third-place finish in the Eastern Semifinals his sophomore season in 2008. Hayes was named a coed All-American in 2010 and was an honorable mention selection as a sophomore. He sailed the Catamounts to a second-place finish in the A Division of both the 2008 and 2010 national championships. Hayes was also a two-time all-conference selection, earning first-team honors as a senior and second-team status his second season.

Hayes, a native of East Haddam, Conn., sailed for the Pettipaug Yacht Club on the Connecticut river while racing Optis, Lasers and 420's. Hayes is an active team racer and has competed at both the U.S. Sailing team races and the British Open Championship for the Wilson Trophy.
