Division of General Surgery
The core mission of the Division of General Surgery is to provide the highest quality patient care, cutting edge research, and an outstanding education to medical students and General Surgery residents. To accomplish these goals a program of recruitment of outstanding surgical leaders was begun in July 2000. As a result, the division now consists of four sections - Surgical Oncology, Trauma/Surgical Critical Care, Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery, and Colorectal Surgery - each led by a senior faculty member. These four sections encompass all the major components of General Surgery and allow the faculty to care for patients across a broad spectrum of complex surgical interventions.
