Electrified nanostructures create low-cost pure water

Stanford researchers have developed a water-purifying filter that makes the process 80,000 times faster than existing filters. The key is coating the filter fabric—ordinary cotton—with nanotubes and nanowires, then electrifying it. The filter has potential in developing nations.

Stanford preparing for Dalai Lama's October visit

Tickets have already gone on sale for the Dalai Lama's Oct. 14-15 visit. The exiled Tibetan spiritual and religious leader will lead a series of programs titled "Compassion, Science, & Society." This will be the Dalai Lama's third visit to the Farm. Get tickets online or at the Stanford Ticket Office.
