Professor W.E. Moerner woke up to news he'd won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Moerner, who's in Brazil to attend a conference, was honored for his work extending the limits of the light microscope and making it possible to study molecular processes in real time. He shares the recognition with Eric Betzig, of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Virginia, and Stefan W. Hell, of the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Germany. These videos capture his reactions, as well as the reactions of his colleagues.
