Undergraduate applications to Stanford continue to rise

Applications surged more than 5 percent for the Class of 2014.

Applications for the fall freshman class set a record as more than 32,000 high school students applied for admission to Stanford.

The number of applicants for the Class of 2014 represents a 5.6 percent increase over last year, when 30,348 students applied for admission.

Stanford will notify students who applied under the regular admissions program of its decision on April 1.

In mid-December, Stanford sent acceptance letters to 753 early applicants to the Class of 2014. The number of students seeking admission under the restrictive early action program – 5,566 – also was the highest in the university's history.

Students admitted under both programs have until May 1 to reply.
