School of Medicine launches stimulus funding site

To date, the School of Medicine has received about $86 million for 134 projects under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. A new website details the value of the stimulus program, which is projected to create and retain about 200 full-time employee positions at the school by mid-2010.

Scholar devotes life's work to 'father of English history'

The Northumbrian monk known as "Venerable Bede" has been called "the teacher of the whole Middle Ages" and "the father of English history." For English Professor Emeritus George Hardin Brown, author of a new book on Bede, research on the early scholar has been his life's work.

Prejudice fuels opposition to Obama's reforms

Individuals' implicit racial prejudices corresponded with a reluctance to vote for President Barack Obama and with opposition to his healthcare reform plan, according to a study coauthored by Graduate School of Business Associate Professor Brian Lowery.

  • Seasonal flu shot update: If you know a student or the spouse or domestic partner of a student who needs a seasonal flu shot, point him or her to the flu web pages. Tonight, Thursday, free shots will be available to them at the Wilbur Residence Hall from 6 to 9 p.m. Faculty, staff, retirees and their spouses and domestic partners can get the seasonal flu vaccine at one of Vaden's Monday flu clinics, which will resume Nov. 30.
