Understanding autism

Ricardo Dolmetsch, assistant professor of neurobiology at the School of Medicine, was drawn to the subject of autism after learning that his son has the condition. Paul Costello, executive director of the Medical School’s communications office, recently interviewed Dolmetsch.

The salon, a gathering of intellectuals who engage in thought-provoking discussions, was common in 17th and 18th century France, and the ideas and philosophies exchanged then have been credited with spurring the Enlightenment. A new interactive website, Arcade, takes a page from that concept.

With a little Luck

The Cardinal's fortunes have been getting a boost from the extra offensive oomph provided by Andrew Luck, a redshirt freshman with a quarterback heritage. A story in the latest issue of Stanford magazine features Luck, plus video clips of the season so far.
