Peck discusses salary program for FY11

Diane Peck, vice president of human resources, has announced that there will be a staff salary program for the 2011 fiscal year, effective Sept. 1, 2010. She discusses with Stanford Report the importance of the program as a cornerstone of Stanford's performance-management process.

Stanford junior named a 2010 Truman Scholar

Varun Sivaram is one of 60 students across the country to receive a Truman Scholarship, which provides up to $30,000 for graduate study to college students committed to careers in public service. Sivaram, whose major is engineering physics and international relations, hopes to become a climate change negotiator.

April 16 workshop to examine video revolution's impact

Media X is holding a half-day workshop on Friday, April 16, to examine how the ability to share real-time video will change journalism, education, government and business. "The Live Video Revolution: How Every Event Could Soon Have an Infinite Audience" will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon at 124 Wallenberg Hall. The workshop is free and open to the public.

Bill Gates is the guest host for Stanford Open Office Hours on Facebook. He will respond to questions related to his upcoming April 19 talk at Stanford: "Giving Back: Finding the Best Way to Make a Difference." Post your questions. His response video will go live next week.
