The d.school's new home is designed for redesign

After four moves in five years, the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design, better known as the d.school, finally has a home in the newly renovated Building 550, which brings together the d.school and the Mechanical Engineering Department's Design Group. An official opening is scheduled for May 7.

The 2010–11 Lively Arts season will feature butoh dance company Sankai Juku (left), pianist Emanuel Ax, violinist Midori with pianist Robert McDonal, Mingus Dynasty, Toshi Reagon and BIGLovely, hip-hop company Rennie Harris Puremovement, new works by sound sculptor Trimpin and more.

  • Faculty Senate meets tomorrow: The speakers include Provost John Etchemendy, who will give a report on the university's faculty retirement incentive program, and Patricia Gumport, vice provost for graduate education.
