Stanford's postdoctoral scholar community at all-time high

At the beginning of 2010, there were 1,754 postdoctoral scholars working in offices, laboratories, institutes and centers on campus, including Hedwich Kuipers. That's a record number — and larger than any single undergraduate class at Stanford.

The latest issue of Gender News from the Clayman Institute for Gender Research includes an article on faculty research fellow and Stanford alumna Fredi Kronenberg's work in herbal medicine. She says the U.S. botanical medicine industry has a long way to go in terms of research and product quality control.

Research sheds light on high-temperature superconductors

Superconductors, the materials that transport electricity without resistance or energy loss, appear to be more complex than previously thought, according to research in Nature Physics by Stanford Institute for Materials and Energy Science scientists.
