Andrew Luck named a Heisman finalist

Quarterback Andrew Luck, who led the Cardinal to an 11-1 record season and a berth in the Discover Orange Bowl, has been named one of four finalists for the Heisman Trophy, which honors the nation's most outstanding college football player.

Isabella Abbott, world-renowned algae expert, dies at 91

Isabella Abbott, Stanford professor emerita of biology, who literally wrote the book on Marine Algae of California, as well as numerous recipes for cooking with kelp and other seaweeds, died in her home in Honolulu in October.

Annual Common Data Set statistics, generally used to answer college guidebooks, result from a collaboration between publishers and the educational community to improve and standardize statistical reporting.
