American premiere of Chinese works opens today at Cantor

The work of the men known as "Four Great Masters of Ink Painting" is featured in a Cantor Arts Center exhibition that opens today. "Tracing the Past, Drawing the Future: Master Ink Painters in 20th-Century China" presents more than 100 works.

After eight years as president and chief executive officer of Stanford Hospital & Clinics, Martha Marsh has announced her retirement, effective Aug. 31. Under Marsh's leadership, Stanford Hospital & Clinics has consistently ranked as one of the top hospitals in the nation.

Secondhand smoke pervasive in California's Indian casinos

Secondhand smoke in California's Indian casinos often exceeds concentrations associated with harmful health effects, a new study by Stanford environmental engineers has found. The casinos, which are exempt from state smoking laws, are one of the few public places where smoking is still legal.
