Stanford Summer Theater returns to the taproot of Western civilization with a Homer-inspired lineup. The Wanderings of Odysseus opens July 22 and continues through Aug. 15. But tonight, July 12, take in the first of a Monday night film series with Troy at 7 p.m. in Annenberg Auditorium.

Jonathan Dorfan has been named president-elect of the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University. Dorfan is a SLAC professor of physics and former director of the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.

New signs have been posted around Lake Lagunita reiterating and clarifying rules for using the site. First on the list: leashing dogs. The signs remind visitors that the area's primary purpose is for flood control and as a breeding habitat for endangered species.
