Sunil Kumar named Chicago's business school dean

Sunil Kumar, the Fred H. Merrill Professor of Operations, Information and Technology and senior associate dean for academic affairs at the Graduate School of Business, has been appointed dean of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Stanford and SLAC host visit by Basque president

Patxi López, president of the autonomous Basque government, visited Stanford and the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory Wednesday, meeting with such administrators as Provost John Etchemendy. He also toured the Center for Automotive Research.

Molecule mechanism triggering Parkinson's identified

School of Medicine scientists, including Bingwei Lu, have identified a molecular pathway responsible for the death of key nerve cells whose loss causes Parkinson's. The discovery may explain how a genetic mutation linked to Parkinson's causes the cells' death and could open the door to new therapeutic approaches.
