In an era of constrained federal budgets, the U.S. government and research universities are "coming to a collision point" over the issue of research funding, President John Hennessy told the Faculty Senate yesterday at its last meeting of the academic year.

John Bravman, who arrived at Stanford in 1975 as a first generation college student from New York City, has spent his entire adult life on the Farm.
Which means there are stories galore – funny, serious, appreciative, poignant, awestruck, inspirational – and legions of people to tell them.

Next year, two dozen Stanford students and alumni will fan out across the globe to pursue projects funded by the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. The program offers fellowships for graduating seniors, graduate students, young professionals and artists to study abroad for one academic year.

- Graduate students honored for teaching excellence: Forty-one graduate students will be honored with Centennial Teaching Assistant Awards at a ceremony on Saturday, June 12. Now in its 21st year, the award program recognizes and rewards outstanding teaching by graduate students in the schools of Humanities and Sciences, Earth Sciences, and Engineering. - Commencement Weekend begins:
More than 25,000 family members and friends will be in Stanford Memorial Stadium on Sunday to cheer on the class of 2010 as the university awards 1,722 bachelor’s degrees; 2,100 master’s degrees; and 980 doctoral degrees.
