Edward D. “Ted” Harris Jr., chair emeritus of medicine at the School of Medicine who significantly advanced the understanding and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, died May 21 at his son’s residence in Thetford Hill, Vt. The cause of death was adenoid cystic carcinoma, a rare cancer.

PhD candidate Elizabeth Buckner is running a project to collect stories from Palestinian and Israeli children and turn them into audio slideshows that can be distributed in the region's schools on mobile devices. The small contraptions also play video games aimed at boosting a user's critical thinking.

Stanford Report's transformation from a weekly newspaper to a daily email appears to have been successful. According to a recent readership survey, 72 percent of respondents who receive the publication open it "every" or "most" days. Forty percent say they open it every day.
