Stem cell central: The Lorry I. Lokey Building

The Lorry I. Lokey Stem Cell Research Building at the School of Medicine boasts 200,000 square feet of floor space, serving about 550 occupants. It is the largest dedicated stem cell research building in the country, if not the world. The building will be dedicated today at a series of private events.

A Stanford study shows there's a silver lining to the graying of our nation. As we grow older, we tend to become more emotionally stable. And that translates into longer, more productive lives that offer more benefits than problems, says Laura Carstensen, the study's lead author.
