Stanford puts its own stamp on the Occupy movement

Occupy Stanford, which emerged a couple of months ago in tandem with similar movements nationwide, has been joined by Occupy the Future, a more academic alliance that Friday organized a series of teach-ins and a rally on White Plaza.

Tobacco industry dying? Not so fast, says Stanford expert

Smoking is not going away. Worldwide, says historian Robert Proctor, the tobacco industry continues to create toxic products that cause not just lung cancer but also such maladies as cataracts, early onset menopause and erectile dysfunction.

 

Stanford offers early admission to 755 students

Stanford has sent acceptance letters to 755 high school students who sought admission to the Class of 2016 under the university's early action admission program, the Office of Undergraduate Admission announced Friday.
The students were selected from 5,880 candidates.

  • IT Services during Winter Closure: Most groups within IT Services will be closed from the end of the day Friday, Dec. 16 through Monday, Jan. 2 and will resume normal business operations Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 8 a.m. However, IT staff will be available to provide services to the hospitals and clinics as usual.
