Research shows sharing in sorrow might make us happier

Scrolling through Facebook or mingling at a party, you might get the impression that other people's lives are full of job promotions, exotic travel and successful relationships. We don't often hear about the sad times they're going through, and that can make our own emotional struggles seem worse.

Organizations worldwide recognized Stanford's environmental scholars in 2009-10, reflecting the impact of work encouraged by the Initiative on Environment and Sustainability. As noted in the 2010 annual report, biology Professor Gretchen Daily won a Heinz Award and a Midori Prize.

Cardinal fans welcome home the Orange Bowl Champions

An enthusiastic crowd welcomed the Cardinal football team when it returned to campus Tuesday evening following its 40-12 drubbing of Virginia Tech in the Discover Orange Bowl. A slideshow of photos taken by the Stanford Alumni Association's David Gonzales chronicles the festivities.
