The Bing Concert Hall will open on Jan. 11, 2013 with a week-long celebration of performances. The San Francisco Symphony, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Los Lobos and the St. Lawrence String Quartet will be among the first acts.

Gerry Weitz, director emeritus of IRT Administrative Systems for the School of Medicine, died of a stroke Feb. 8. He was 67. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 3, at 2 p.m. in the Millie and Paul Berg Hall in the Li Ka Shing Center for Learning and Knowledge.
