Free computer backup service for Stanford Earth graduate students and post-docs now available!

February 4, 2015; revised May 27, 2015

Recognizing that backups of computer data files are an essential part of protecting Stanford's teaching and research, the School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences has purchased access to the central University IT cloud-based CrashPlan PROe backup service for the computers of all graduate students and post-docs in the School.

This provides a free, robust, encrypted, and continuous backup solution for any computer used by a graduate student or post-doc in Stanford Earth, whether Stanford-owned or personally-owned.

This is a "self-service" offering. Graduate students and post-docs must follow these instructions to download and install the backup application.

Faculty and staff in Stanford Earth continue to use the School's free internal CrashPlan PROe backup service.
