Welcome to the online home of Stanford Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Our primary objective is to restore function to patients afflicted with the entire spectrum of musculoskeletal and neurologic disorders. Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialists (also referred to as “physiatrists”) often diagnose and evaluate patients with back or joint pain, sports injuries, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and amputations. The primary goal is to maximize function, often through focused physical therapies, medications, and non-operative interventions.

The Stanford rehabilitation professionals are amongst one of the largest networks on the west coast. Our physicians are located at Stanford Hospital & Clinics, Palo Alto Veterans Affairs Health Care System, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, and St. Mary's Medical Center.
