We have shown that tectonic tremor, a weak and persistent ground shaking, occurs as a swarm of tiny low frequency earthquakes. We study tremor to understand its mechanism and relationship to ordinary earthquakes.

We use measurements of the ambient field that preserve amplitude information to predict strong ground motion amplification and to study the attenuation structure of the Earth.
We study the earthquake source to understand it better by constraining radiated seismic energy, earthquake scaling, kinematic and pseudo-dynamic source models, and the mechanics of intermediate-depth earthquakes.
