Thank you to all students who took the time to upload your resumes for the MBA2 Resume Database. Over the past few weeks we heard some frequently asked questions and thought it would be helpful to publish them here for your reference.
What happens after I submit my resume and mark it as active?
When the deadline passes, CMC staff will lock your active resume. Next, we will review the submitted resumes to address any formatting issues. Our vendor will then publish the resume database and notify purchasers and schools. Once notified, we will unlock the active resumes and make them visible to students.
What does it mean to lock the active resume?
Locking your active resume means that you won’t be able to edit it and you won’t be able to designate a different resume as active. Active resumes are locked until the resume database is published to employers and students no later than August 26.
I missed the deadline – can my resume still be included in the resume database?
The short answer is yes, but not right away. After the resume database has been published, we will unlock the active resumes and you will be able to upload and designate a resume as active so that it can be visible to employers. If you find yourself in this situation, please send an email to cmc@gsb.stanford.edu so that we can keep the right team members informed.
Can employers see my resume? Can my classmates see my resume?
After the resume database has been published, employers and classmates will be able to see your resume as long as you a) submitted your resume, b) marked it as active, and c) answered ‘yes’ to the profile questions dealing with permissions. Employers are not able to see your profile answers or even the resume file name, only the document itself.
How can I view my classmates’ resumes?
Your classmates’ resumes are not visible via the dashboard until after the resume database has been published. After August 26, click on the link in the “Search Resumes” widget, found in the lower right corner of the main page. When the new window opens up, select the “Candidate Search” tab and then select the “Create Search” button to use the search criteria.
Why was I asked to use the GSB Resume Template?
Employers – both recruiters and GSB alumni – request that each business school’s resumes be formatted in a consistent manner so that the review process is simpler for them. Many, if not all of our peer business schools request or require a resume template for their resume databases. For more information and to see the GSB Resume Template, go to our Resumes page on myGSB.
Why was I asked to upload my resume as a Word document? What if I already submitted in PDF?
The main issue with uploading a PDF document is that our team will be unable to quickly resolve any formatting issues we see as part of our review. If you have already submitted your resume in PDF format, you do not need to resubmit – we will reach out to you directly if any changes need to be made.
