Bike Buzz

Caltrain carries about 60,000 customers a day. And, more than 6,000 of them bring bikes onboard. Caltrain launched a social media campaign in 2015 to provide tips on bringing bikes on the train. Each Wednesday, a new tip is posted to the Caltrain Facebook page and tweeted from the Marketing Department's Twitter account (@GoCaltrain).

  • Riding bikes, scooters and skateboards on platforms and station property isn't allowed. Walk for safety sake.
  • Use a destination tag on your bike. Group bikes together by destination. For tags, ask a conductor.
  • For safety reasons, please keep aisles clear in the bike car, as well as in the other cars.
  • Folding bikes must be in the folded position prior to boarding and may not be placed on seats and must not block aisles, stairs or vestibules.
  • Allow non-bike passengers to disembark first.
  • As a courtesy, allow bicyclists to sit in the bike portion of the train.
  • Boarding with a bike? Check out our video on boarding and alighting at www.caltrain.com/bicycles. There’s also a video about alternatives to taking your bike onboard.
