Academic Performance Index (API)The cornerstone of California's
Public Schools Accountability Act of 1999; measures the academic performance and growth of schools on a variety of academic measures.
Accountability Progress Reporting (APR)California's integrated accountability system that reports both the state Academic Performance Index (API), and the federal Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and Program Improvement (PI).
Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)A statewide accountability system mandated by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 which requires each state to ensure that all schools and districts make Adequate Yearly Progress.
Persistently Lowest-Achieving SchoolsFederal and state law and guidance require California to identify schools for the purposes of the School Improvement Grant and State Fiscal Stabilization Fund programs.
Public Schools Accountability Act (PSAA)Authorizes the creation of an educational accountability system for California public schools. Its primary goal is to help schools improve and to measure the academic achievement of all students.
