Sara Lowe enters her fourth season as the head coach at Stanford in 2016.

Over the past two seasons, she has guided the Cardinal to a first-place finishes at the Western Regional Championships and third-place overall finishes at the U.S. Collegiate National Championships. Stanford Synchro has produced nine collegiate All-Americans over that span.

In 2013, Lowe led Stanford to the program's seventh U.S. Collegiate National Championship in just her first season at the helm. The Cardinal swept the team, duet and trio finals to win the title and Lowe was named the USA Synchro Coach of the Year. In September she was inducted into the United State Synchronized Swimming Hall of Fame as an athlete. 

Lowe served as an assistant coach at Stanford in various capacities following her graduation in 2008. Stanford came in fourth overall at the U.S. Collegiate National Championships in 2012 and second in both 2011 and 2010.

A month after the program's second-place finish in 2010, the Cardinal attended the U.S. National Championships in Huntersville, N.C. where it won the duet and team events and came just short of winning the overall national title.

During the 2009 season, Lowe was a volunteer coach for the Cardinal, stepping in as the assistant during the maternity leave of head coach Heather Olson. She also served as the team manager for the 13-15 U.S. National Team at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. during the summer of 2009.

Lowe has been heavily involved as a coach at different levels of USA Synchro. During the summer of 2014, she led the USA Synchro 12 and Under National Team to a first-place overall finish at the UANA Pan American Championships in Riverside, Calif. 

In 2013, Lowe coached the United States at the World University Games in Kazan, Russia. The squad included eight Stanford synchronized swimmers. 

During the summer of 2011, Lowe served as the head coach of the USA Synchro Junior National Team. The team trained in Northern California and competed at the UANA Pan American Championships in Montreal, Canada. Lowe coached the team, duet and solo to a second-place finish.

A year earlier, she was the assistant coach for the 11-12 USA Synchro National Team during the summer of 2010. The team, which trained at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. and competed at the UANA Pan American Championships in Lima, Peru, returned to the United States with three gold medals.

Lowe was a United States synchronized swimming All-American from 2000 through 2005 as a four-time member of the USA Synchro National Team and three-time member of the USA Synchro Junior National Team. She was also a member of the 2003 Pan American Team, winning a gold medal, and the 2004 Olympic Team, bringing home a bronze medal.

Lowe began her collegiate athletic career at Stanford in the fall of 2004. While at Stanford, Lowe was a four-time collegiate All-American and a member of the Cardinal teams which won four consecutive Collegiate National Championships. Lowe earned the title of Collegiate High Point Athlete each of her four years at Stanford and combined with her teammates to win over 20 national titles. Lowe won the gold medal in every event she entered over her four-year career as a Stanford swimmer and served as captain her sophomore, junior and senior year.

As a sophomore, Lowe received the Athletic Board Outstanding Female Award and as a senior she was named Female Athlete of the Year. Lowe was nominated for the USOC Sports Woman of the Year as a junior in 2007 and senior in 2008 and was twice named USA Synchronized Swimming Athlete of the Year.

Lowe graduated from Stanford with a degree in communication in 2008 and was appointed a Matteson Fellow in 2008. She served as the AAC Athlete Representative on the USOC Athlete Advisory Council and as a member of the Board of Directors for United States Synchronized Swimming, Inc. from 2009 to 2012. In addition, Lowe served as the acting Executive Director for the DAPER Investment Fund from 2008 through 2012.

Lowe works with the Junior Olympic program and is involved in the World Fit Program. She also belongs to the Northern California Olympians.
