Stanford opened its three-match homestand by splitting two matches on Saturday. The No. 7 Cardinal (3-2) fell to No. 3 Penn 9-0 in the morning but rallied to take down No. 15 Bates 8-1 in the nightcap.
Sophomore CC Ho put up a tough fight for the Cardinal at the No. 1 spot against strong competition from Penn. Ho battled Anaka Alankamony in front of a big crowd before eventually falling 11-6, 11-9, 11-9.
In the evening matchup against Bates, Stanford had strong showings up and down its lineup. Freshman Sarah Bell dominated at No. 2, winning in three games, and the Cardinal's three seniors, Ally Huchro, Ariel Posner and Alex Yorke, all earned victories.
Stanford hosts George Washington on Monday at 4 p.m. to wrap up its 2014-15 home slate. The Cardinal still has road trips to Yale, Brown and Harvard remaining before the CSA National Championships in Cambridge, Mass., in February.
