At Stanford:

  • In his freshman season, Williams twice broke the Stanford decathlon record, including Bob Mathias' Olympic gold-medal winning total that had stood since 1952.
  • Won his second consecutive U.S. junior championship, earned first-team All-America honors, and finished as the Pac-12 runner-up.
  • Broke the American junior decathlon record (junior implements) while winning the Pan Am Junior Championships, scoring 8,037 points.

2016 Season:
Indoors

  • Scored a personal best 5,690 points to win the Penn State National heptathlon and strengthen his hold on the No. 2 spot in school indoor history.
  • Established the score without setting any personal records.
  • Pole vaulted in three other meets, twice setting PBs.
  • His best of 17-3 1/2 placed him seventh in the pole vault at the Don Kirby Elite.
  • Was ninth in the pole vault (16-10) at the MPSF Championships.
  • Ran on his first Stanford relay, taking the second leg in the Cardinal's sixth-place 4x400 at the MPSF Championships.

2015 Season:
Outdoors

  • Broke the American junior decathlon record, scoring a meet-record 8,037 points to win the gold medal at the Pan Am Junior Track and Field Championships in Edmonton, Canada.
  • Needed at least 4:32.00 in the final event, the 1,500 meters, to break the 8,018 mark for those 19 and under set by Gunnar Nixon in 2012. Williams ran a personal-record 4:29.20.
  • The 8,037 total does not count as a Stanford record (which is 7,806) because, under junior rules, a lighter discus and shot and lower high hurdles were used than in collegiate competition.
  • Athlete of the Week by USA Track and Field (Aug. 5) for his performances at Pan Ams.
  • Fourth in the decathlon at the NCAA outdoor championships, breaking his own school record with 7,806 points.
  • That was the highest NCAA finish ever for a Stanford decathlete.
  • The total moved him to No. 2 on the all-time United States junior list (19 and under) for using senior-level implements and high-hurdle heighth.
  • Broke Stanford's oldest record -- Bob Mathias' 1952 Olympic-winning effort of 7,592 points (converted to reflect currect scoring tables) -- while placing second at the Pac-12 Championships with 7,679 points.
  • Repeated as U.S. junior champion by scoring 8,001 points at the U.S. Junior Championships.
  • The total (using junior-level implements and high-hurdle heighth) was 17 points off the American junior record and placed him No. 3 all-time on the U.S. junior list.
  • In his collegiate outdoor debut, scored 7,518 points to place second overall and first among collegians, at the Texas Relays.
  • Total of 7,518 placed him third all-time at Stanford and came within 74 points of Bob Mathias' 1952 school-record of 7,592c.
  • The score was a Stanford freshman record and placed him No. 7 on the all-time U.S. junior list.
  • Stanford Athletic Board Block ‘S’ Outstanding Male Freshman.
  • Pac-12 Men’s Track Athlete of the Week  (March 30).

Indoors

  • Placed second in the seven-event heptathlon at the MPSF Championships, with a score of 5,539 points, only four shy of first.
  • Total made him No. 2 in Stanford history.
  • Made collegiate debut at the UW Indoor Preview on Jan. 17, placing 10th in the 60 hurdles (8.33), sixth in the pole vault (season best 16-2 3/4), and second in the 4x400 (3:16.52).

International:

  • Won the 2015 Pan Am Junior Championships decathlon in Edmonton, setting a U.S. junior record of 8,037 points.
  • Placed sixth in the decathlon at the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships in Eugene, scoring a personal best 7,760 points.

High School:

  • In scoring 7,760 at the 2014 world juniors, he broke the national high school record of 7,748 by Gunnar Nixon of Santa Fe (Edmond, Okla.) in 2011.
  • It made him equal to the fourth-highest ever among U.S. junior men (19 and younger).
  • He also became the No. 3 U.S. junior performer all-time.
  • Set six personal bests in the competion, including the final two events, helping him move up from 16th place after three events.

  • At Memphis (Tenn.) University School, he won five state Division II titles in both 2013 and 2014.
