STANFORD, Calif. – The Stanford wrestling team defeated Pac-12 foe Cal Poly, 22-13, and Air Force, 27-8, Sunday in Maples Pavilion to improve to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in the Pac-12. The Mustangs drop to 1-10 overall and 0-1 in the conference, while the Falcons fall to 4-3.

Stanford won seven of the 10 bouts against Cal Poly and eight of the 10 against Air Force. Heavyweight Nathan Butler posted a 9-0 major decision against Nicolas Johnson of Cal Poly and then secured a 6-1 decision over Marcus Malecek of Air Force. The redshirt freshman leads the team with 24 wins on the season and is 7-1 in dual competition.

Redshirt sophomore Jim Wilson got things going for the Cardinal with an 8-2 decision over Travis Berridge of Cal Poly. He also picked up a 4-0 decision over Air Force's Mike Billingsley. The 165-pounder moved to 23-4 overall and has won 15 of his last 16 matches.

Redshirt freshman 174-pounder Keaton Subjeck also won twice on Sunday. He added to the Stanford lead with a 7-5 sudden victory decision over Cal Poly's Dominic Kastl. Trailing 4-2 heading into the third period, Subjeck scored an escape and a takedown to take a 5-3 lead, but Kastl escaped before time expired to force overtime.

Against Air Force, Subjeck posted a 6-1 decision over Konner Witt to improve to 15-8 overall and 4-4 in duals.

Also securing two wins for the Cardinal on the day were 133-pounder Connor Schram, 149-pounder Garrett Schaner and 157-pounder Maxwell Hvolbek. Schram is now 7-1 on the season, while Schaner moved to 15-11 and 5-3 in duals.

After Hvolbek registered a 5-2 decision against Cal Poly's Colt Shorts, the redshirt sophomore pinned Air Force's Jordan Wengreen in 6:24. It marked the first fall of the season for Hvolbek.

Redshirt sophomores Zach Nevills (184 pounds) and Ryan Davies (197 pounds) also collected wins against the Falcons.
