No. 8 Stanford faced strong competition at Yale this weekend, falling to No. 9 Columbia, No. 10 Dartmouth, No. 4 Yale and No. 3 Trinity in New Haven, Connecticut.
On Friday, Stanford played its most tightly contested match of the weekend against Columbia. CC Ho, Christie Huchro, Sarah Haig and Julia Olson picked up wins, but the Cardinal couldn't get the last win needed for a team victory and lost 5-4.
CC Ho and Christie Huchro needed only three games each to build upon their individual performances Friday with wins at the top-two spots in Saturday's match against Dartmouth. The Green Wave swept the remaining seven matches to win 7-2, but Tatyanna Dadabbo and Carolyn Gillette fought to get their matches to five games before falling just short. Yale, the host of the weekend's action and one of the nation's top teams, defeated the Cardinal 9-0 in Stanford's second match of the day Saturday.
On Sunday, Stanford fell to Trinity, 8-1. Theresa Shropshire defeated Phoebe Carlisle in three games at No. 9 to earn a win for the Cardinal.
Next up for the Cardinal is a road trip to Rhode Island and Massachusetts to take on Princeton, Brown and Harvard. Stanford will face Princeton on Jan. 30 and Brown on Jan. 31 in Providence, Rhode Island, before traveling to Cambrdige, Massachusetts, to take on Harvard on Feb. 1.
